It was amazing what an hour with her sketchpad could do for her mood. She was sure that the lines she drew with her black marker were going to save her years of worry lines in the future.

Everyone should have a hobby. Pursuing a hobby is a great way to distress, relax and unwind after a hectic day at work. Your hobby can take your mind of anything that has been stressing you out. It is an awesome way to enjoy and yourself and let your mind be at rest.

Sketching and drawing is a great hobby which you can do at any time. It’s not too expensive. There are a number of reasons why you should take up drawing and sketching but here are my top 5 reasons:

My beloved Lord Krishna...So charming and attractive!

You feel a sense of satisfaction and achievement on completing a sketch. Feeling satisfied and confident goes a long way in improving your wellness quotient.

4. The objective of any hobby is rest and relaxation. Sketching allows you to sit back at leisure and draw at your own pace. There are no rules & regulations to follow. You can draw when you want, what you want and how you want.

5. Sketching is a medium where you converse with your audience without words. An artist doesn’t use words but still is able to express his emotions, ideas and feelings through his drawings. I feel that sketching betters your communication skills as you are able to convey what you want without the need of words to be spoken.

Sketching and drawing as a hobby is great for a number of reasons. I used to draw a lot as a kid but as I grew up, drawing somehow took a backseat. I again took up drawing and sketching since last two years. I find drawing so meditative and relaxing. And there are so many mediums to choose from- pencil, charcoal, colour pencils, pens, water colors, acrylic colours etc. I love the freedom that comes with sketching- You can draw at your own leisure without resorting to any rules. I am an amateur at drawing and I don’t draw as often as I would like to because of the lack of time but whenever I do, I find it so relaxing and rejuvenating. The benefits of sketching are incredible and can really help you improve in so many ways.

Well said...Hobbies help us in breaking the monotony of daily life.

Rajan Singh Jolly from From Mumbai, presently in Jalandhar, INDIA. on December 28, 2018:

Fine sketches and it certainly is a stress buster besides the benefits you have listed. I believe a person without a hobby is like a ship without a rudder.

Shaloo Walia (author) from India on December 26, 2018:

@Louise Thanks! I am just an amateur who draws once in a while. You can draw too. Start with easy doodles, mandalas or zentangles. You will find it very relaxing.

Shaloo Walia (author) from India on December 26, 2018:

@Joyce Please encourage your granddaughter to continue with the art. It's easy to give up among the busyness of life.

Louise Powles from Norfolk, England on December 26, 2018:

You're sketches are beautiful. I wish I could draw like this. My niece has recently taken up sketching and really enjoys it.

Thank you Manatita! Indeed a day of Light and Love...Hope you had a great Christmas filled with love, happiness and joy!

manatita44 from london on December 25, 2018:

Extremely beautiful drawings, sketches … sublime, exquisite and indeed lofty. In some ways it is Sri Krishna's day in so far as it's a day of Light and Love. Avatars are at home with one another and are advocates or direct messengers of the One within.

Tried to find you in my address today but to no avail. Sent out lots of beautiful cards. Let me now wish you lots of Love and Light … may the enfolding arms of the Mother's Grace encircle you, continue to mold your Heart and grant you Peace. Merry Christmas!!

Shaloo Walia (author) from India on December 25, 2018:

Thanks Bill! And wish you a Merry Christmas!

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on December 25, 2018:

Lovely sketches, my friend. Thank you for sharing your passion with us.
