Barbie Basic Leggings (Free Crochet Pattern)

Crochet Some Leggings or Skinny Pants for Barbie

While I was making an Aran Sweater for Barbie, I thought the outfit needed some leggings or skinny pants to balance out the looseness of the sweater. But as I searched databases for crochet patterns for Barbie pants, all I found were either straight or boot cuts. This inspired me to create my own version of skinny bottoms for Barbie.

This is a free crochet pattern for a pair of basic leggings for Barbie. It consists of mainly single crochets, which makes it easy to follow for beginner crocheters. This pattern was fitted on a Barbie Basics (or Model Muse) doll. For more on Barbie body types, please visit my article called Crochet Clothes for Your Barbie Doll.

Materials

• Size No. 10 Crochet Cotton Thread
• Size No. 1 Crochet Steel Hook
• Tapestry Needle
• Scissors

Gauge

10 sc, 12 sc rows = 1

Abbreviations Used in American Terms

• Ch: chain
• St(s): stitch(es)
• Sl st: slip stitch
• Sc: single crochet
• Sc2tog: sc the next 2 sts together

Leggings or Pants Pattern

Follow my pattern for Barbie Short Shorts until you reach Row 14 of the first leg division. Your leggings should look like this:

Make the First Leg

Do not fasten off and work the following rounds:

Rnd 15: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join, turn. (23)

Rnd 16 to 27: Repeat Rnd 15. (23)

Note: sc2tog = sc the next 2 sc together.

Rnd 28: Ch 1, sc in the first 6 sc, sc2tog, sc in the next 7 sc, sc2tog, sc in the next 6 sc, join, turn. (21)

Rnd 29: Repeat Rnd 15. (21)

Rnd 30: Ch 1, sc in the first 6 sc, sc2tog, sc in the next 5 sc, sc2tog, sc in the next 6 sc, join, turn. (19)

Rnd 31: Repeat Rnd 15. (19)

Rnd 32: Ch 1, sc in the first 5 sc, (sc2tog, sc in the next 5 sc) 2 times, join, turn.

Rnd 33 to 51: Repeat Rnd 15. (17)

Rnd 52: Ch 1, sc in the first 4 sc, sc2tog, sc in the next 5 sc, sc2tog, sc in the next 4 sc, join, turn. (15)

Rnd 53: Repeat Rnd 15. (15)

Rnd 54: Ch 1, sc in the first 4 sc, sc2tog, sc in the next 3 sc, sc2tog, sc in the next 4 sc, join, turn. (13)

Rnd 55: Repeat Rnd 15. (13)

Rnd 56: Ch 1, sc in the first 3 sc, (sc2og, sc in the next 3 sc) 2 times, join, turn. (11)

Rnd 57 to 61: Repeat Rnd 15. (11)

Note: You can increase or decrease Rnds depending on your preferred length for the leggings.

Fasten off. Your leggings should now look like this:

Make the Second Leg

Work the start of the other leg like the Short Shorts pattern and repeat the same Rounds after Rnd 14 of the previous pattern.

Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Note: Much like the Barbie Short Shorts, this pattern does not require any snap and should easily slip on your dolls.

Variations for the Barbie Basic Leggings

• Stripes: Much like the trends in leggings right now, you can also work stripes into your outfit by changing colors every few Rounds. For more information on changing colors, please visit my article called Colorblocking Clothes in Crochet.
• Cropped Pants: You can also choose to make cropped leggings by stopping at your desired length and matching the number of Rounds you made for one leg to the other leg.

How to Style These Slim Pants

Add some Barbie Ballet Flats in a coordinating color to complete any outfit as in the picture shown above.

Hi, Barbara. As stated above, you need to do the first 14 rows of Barbie Short Shorts in order to proceed to Row 15. The link is provided, you just need to click on it to get to the right one.

As much as I would like to provide all the instructions for every single pattern in one hub, I have had difficulty publishing hubs due to having duplicate content. Since I use an old pattern as the base for this design, using the link takes away the duplicate content and allows me to publish new designs.

It should, just change the number of stitches. Unfortunately, I only have this one Barbie doll and don't have any other dolls to fit at the moment. What makes it work for Barbie is the tight fit, holding up the leggings so it does not sag or fall down.
