Choosing the Right Puppy - Is a Pomeranian the Right Dog for Me?

This page is about pomeranian puppies and dogs. I am not a vet, nor a behavioral specialist, but if there is one thing I know about it's dogs. All kinds of dogs. Pomeranians are my specialty because they came into my life a few years ago, and I have learned so much from them. I have 3 pomeranians. Their names are Daphne, Geoff and Nani. Daphne and Geoff are mates and Nani is their last baby together. Daphne had 3 litters of puppies with Geoff. All of our pomeranian puppies found amazing new families, but it was not without a lot of hard work, and unfortunately having to turn away quite a few potential new families. My experience with Pomeranians started before they even took their first breathes, and I learned so much by nurturing them and watching them grow. I wrote this page in hopes of more amazing pomeranians being able to find the right families for them.

All of the photos and videos on this page are my actual puppies and they are copyrighted to myself.

Things you should know about pomeranians

I guess the title " is a pomeranian the right dog for me" is really a falsehood. The reason I say this is because dogs are very adaptable and will naturally adapt to their environment over time. The real question is " Am I the right parent for a Pomeranian?" If you have time for a baby then you have time for a Pomeranian. Your pomeranian can be easily injured by other dogs, furniture, even your own footsteps. Pomeranians love to hide under furniture, therefore my recliner has not reclined in over 3 years. Other dogs are a bigger problem for pomeranians, not just because of their size, but because pomeranian dogs are not aware of their size, and think they can take on a rottweiler any day of the week. Do you have time to walk your dog? I walk Daphne 2 miles every day, she lives for her walk, Geoff on the other hand could take it or leave it. If you do not have time to walk your dog i suggest a fenced in yard for your Pomeranian. If your pom is not stimulated he/she will make mischief. The fenced in yard is also a must to keep other dogs out.

A new bed for your new prince or princess - Perfect pomeranian beds

My dogs do not sleep in bed with me, however they prefer to sleep near my bed. These beds are perfect for any corner of the room. Some pomeranian owners even put the puppy bed in their own bed. This makes it safer sleeping with a tiny pup.

Yes, he is black and looks like he has the same similar personality as the balck intro photo one (because he used to do many things like that). He is six years old. I have a lens about him. To find him you jsy type in Klien spitz and he will jump in joy.

My Emma is 3 years old and weighs in at 4.5 lbs..I am a senior so I spend most of my time with her..we walk 2 -3 times a day. She is such a beautiful little dog and I have thought of breeding her but I am so afraid something will go wrong because she is so little. She loves her bath but not her brushing. When she is all clean and nice I braId little bows into her tail so sometimes she might have as many as 10 bows and then a larger one attached to her collar..there isn't much to hold a bow by the top of her ears so we put it on the collar..I make her nice coats. sometimes I add rhinestones.. I don't dress her up in dresses and such..Emma has two beds in the house, she decides where she wants to sleep when I am up and about..when I go to bed she sleeps with me..I get many kisses and she washes my hands then she goes to the bottom of my bed. She loves car rides and because she is so small she sits in a childs booster seat and a blanket..I attach her leash above the door she she want fall . Emma is the best thing that has happened to me in many years..I love her so much..

I don't but my sister wants one badly so I am sure we will have one in the family one day.

We have had five over the last two decades. Each one was precious but Rusty (never an ounce over 6 pounds) was our survivor checking out at 16 years old when he died. The area where we live now has too many wild predators for cute city dwellers like our poms were so we've graduated to large farm dogs which protect our flocks from coyotes, snakes, cougars etc. Found your intro on the squidforum.

Our dog is a mutt with a lot of terrier in her - she was a rescue dog from the shelter.

No but they are so adorable little rascals.

biminibahamas on May 02, 2012:

I love them ... I have a Maltese and he is great because he doesn't shed. Small dogs are super because they are so portable, they go everywhere!

anonymous on May 01, 2012:

Nope, but they are too cute!

anonymous on April 29, 2012:

I think they are pretty dogs.

JoshK47 on April 27, 2012:

I do not, but they're such cute little fluff balls!

Fay Favored from USA on January 23, 2012:

My grandparents had several of them. They are beautiful dogs, and so is yours.

StrongMay on December 18, 2011:

Yes. Well, actually, he belongs to my brother, but we live in the same house, so.... The Pomeranian (Fritz is his name, he has a lense), and he was born to my grandparent's two dogs, Lady and Leo. Now my grandparents also have his half sister from another litter - Cinnamon Candy. They also had three litters and called it quits. But they get so adorable!
