Is that Mick Jagger or just my imagination?

Is that Mick Jagger or just my imagination?

Mick Jagger

We have to start off the list with the lead singer of the greatest rock band in history. Mick Jagger, the lead singer of The Rolling Stones, has been rocking with the band since the early-1960s and is still going strong. If you have a family of cat rock stars, why not name the group of kitties after all of the band’s group members: Keith (Richards), Bill (Wyman), and Charlie (Watts). However, if all of those names aren’t on your priority list, go ahead and him Jumpin’ “Jack” Flash!

John Lennon

If you are a bigger fan of The Beatles, you may prefer naming your cat after the legendary John Lennon. The other band members worthy of consideration include Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. After reviewing all the options, “Ringo” the cat does have a nice ring to it. Again, if you want to dive into the band’s albums for some further inspiration, maybe you could name him Sgt. Pepper. Let it be... the best name for your cat whichever you choose.

Led Zeppelin

Sticking with the British theme, Led Zeppelin will never be forgotten either. Is your cat dazed and confused? Is he rambling on in the midst of a communication breakdown with a plethora of Kashmir meows? Then, consider naming him after the band. “Led Zeppelin” sounds appropriate for a big cat who likes his cat food. Though, if you prefer to pick one of the group member’s names, then go for Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, or John Bonham.

Elvis is sitting on his throne.

Elvis Presley

The King of Rock and Roll was a cultural icon back in the 1950s and 60s. What better name for your funky cat than “Elvis” or “The King?” Don’t be cruel or have any suspicious minds if you found your feline in the ghetto. He may be all shook up if he’s a street cat, but don’t let that stop you from putting on your blue suede shoes while deciding on the best name. Elvis the cat would be a funny conversation starter and perhaps one of the most unique male cat names of all.

Axel Rose

Guns N’ Roses may not be appropriate for a cat’s name, but the lead vocalist, Axel Rose, is likely your top pick if you are a fan of G N’ R. Are you still having problems choosing a name? Don’t cry. All we need is a little patience. Welcome your new kitty to the jungle with another name like “Duff” McKagan, “Dizzy” Reed, or simply “Slash.”

Mötley Crüe

Sticking with the bad-ass rock star theme, this list would be incomplete without Mötley Crüe. The band was originally formed in Los Angeles in 1981 and sold over 100 million albums. If your cat is a bit on the naughty side, then try naming him after one of the band members: Nikki Six, Mick Mars, Vince Neil, or Tommy Lee. Some songs are worth considering too. How about Dr. Feelgood?

Kiss

Kiss is the next rock band that comes to mind when thinking of glam rock coming out of the late 1970s. Maybe if your cat is black and white, naming him “Kiss” could be the ultimate tribute to that era. After all, “Lick It Up” was one of the band’s successful albums and your cat likely likes licking up their water and milk from their metal bowl. Your cat was made for lovin’ you too.

That must be Gene Simmons of Kiss licking it up.

AC/DC

The Australian rock band from Sydney is an absolute lock-in for this list. If you have two male cats who really like to rock and roll, one could be “AC” while the other could be “DC.” Of course, if that sounds too similar, try picking from the band members’ names: Angus, Stevie, Malcolm, Brian, Phil, Cliff, Bon, Mark, Simon, or Chris. They sure had a lot of past members in the group!

Ozzy Osborne

Ozzy was the lead vocalist for the heavy metal rock band Black Sabbath during the 1970s. During this time, he also became known as “The Prince of Darkness” and eventually “The Godfather of Metal.” Your cat has some big furry boots to fill if you name him after this legend. Also, if you cycle through Ozzy’s song list, there are some other unique names to choose from, like “Mr. Crowley,” “Iron Man,” and “Mr. Tinkertrain.”

Jimi Hendrix

Did you know that Jimi Hendrix’s given name was originally James Marshall Hendrix? He will go down as perhaps the greatest guitarist in world history. Jimi also has some awesome songs to choose from if you would like to go the song route for this option. When you are caught in crosstown traffic, just go through his playlist and select one that you like. If six was nine, then your voodoo child cat won’t mind flipping around playing in castles made of sand on the beach.

Cute list of names. I haven't ever named a cat after a celebrity. It's always funny when a cat lives up to its iconic name.
