Horsing Around Horses Do The Funniest Things!

We all love horses. They are such stately creatures, with an air of aloofness that makes them one of the most dignified creatures on the planet.

But I got to thinking, are they really that serious? Surely they have time out to horse around a little. So I did a bit of digging and came up with some secret photos of what horses get up to when people aren't around!

I now give you horses for courses!

Did you say tree horse burgers?!

One mississippi two mississippi three......coming out! I am coming.....Oh lord, I got ma head stuck! Can someone give me a push? Waddya mean I am hugging a tree? I ain't hugging no tree...I am, well, just hiding cos' I am embarrassed by this whole horse eating shenanigans. I mean, why would anybody want to eat me? I is just a horse! Who said burgers....? Who said....? You just wait till I get out......! Help!

Hula Hoop Horse!

I say old chap, who says we horses have to keep running around with silly humans on our backs? Some of us, no, all of us do have other talents you know. Take me for example, I can skip, play football and I have even been known to ride a bike, but my speciality is doing the hula hoop. I learned this when I was a babe in arms, well a horse in arms. It takes a bit of doing, but well you know, who says we horses are not the most talented of creatures?

Lurve Baby!

I lurve you baby, yes I do. I really lurve you. Honestly, I really really do have feelings for this poor human. I mean having to walk around on only two feet a day must be so tiring. So every morning I give her a hug. I know she likes it. Mind you, she is a bit smelly, but I don't really mind. When you have a pet human you have to make the effort don't you? And those shorts are really tasty, um, one more nibble should do it......!

Stop nagging me!

Are you laughing at me? Um? Are you laughing? I can't help it if the stoopid human can't get the right shampoo for me, I mean, look at me! How humiliating is this? And my eyes, my poor peepers, my hair is going all over my face and um, help somebody, I need some conditioner now! Waddya mean I look like an old nag? Wot me?

Stop giving me lip!

Go on giss a kiss, moomph, come on darlin' I only wanna little peck, oh please don't look at me like that, I had my lips done with collagen only this morning they look really kinda attractive don't they? Please giss a kiss, I promise not to dribble all over you. Oh don't then, so much for you being a stud!

A drunken horse is par for the course!

I say old chap, its not the done thing you know. Sitting around here right in the middle of their gymkhana field. I know, I know, you don't want to jump, its quite beneath you darling, but you must believe me when I say that its expected of us. I know these stupid people think that we are only good enough for skipping over those silly bits of wood, but we must do as we are told if you want to get back to our nice stable for a bit of tea and a strong drink. Darling? Darling? Oh for goodness sake it looks like you have already hit the bottle, oh poor me, what's a girl to do?

What did the pony say to the donkey when it broke up with her? I don't give an ass! Hahahaha oh I am sooo funny!

OMGosh, Nell, this is so funny. You really captured the right words for those amazing photos. Well done. You gave me some good laughs here.

Levertis Steele from Southern Clime on June 18, 2013:

I read this hub once, but apparently forgot to comment. Never too late, sometimes. These happy friends of yours have been eating corn that was left in water and fermented! Mother said that happened to Papa's hogs many decades ago. After eating the corn and drinking the water, they ran around in circles stumbling and falling and bumping their heads against every post they passed. So, Papa assumed that the greedy rascals had somehow re-invented corn whiskey.

These pictures are hilarious! They remind me of ... who have chug-a-lugged too long at the spirits.

It is always refreshing to read something that brings on laughter that I will gladly share.

Mary Hyatt from Florida on June 18, 2013:

Happy Birthday, Nell!

I needed a good laugh today, and this Hub really made me laugh. I'm a horse lover from way back. I helped Doc in his Vet. practice with the horses, and our 4 kids all had horses.

Voted UP and will share all around so everyone can get a good laugh today!

Hugs and Blessings

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 22, 2013:

Hi Imogen, I am a veggy now too! lol! its totally put me off meat, and those horrible micro meals, ach! but yes the horses are lovely aren't they? they still make me laugh looking at these! thanks for reading, nell

Imogen French from Southwest England on February 22, 2013:

Very funny Nell, what a great collection of hilarious pictures, reminding us what great, intelligent creatures horses are.

As for the horsemeat scandal - well, at times like these I am glad to be a vegetarian!

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 19, 2013:

Hi ImKarn, lol! thanks for reading, and for your 'stable' comment!

Hi Larry, hee hee, yes I heard that rumor too!

Larry Fields from Northern California on February 19, 2013:

Hi ImKarn,

Seeing your comment, I remembered a historical legend about Russia's very own Catherine the Great, who was supposed to be overly fond of horses. If it's true, then has she has earned the all-time horsing around award!

Karen Silverman on February 18, 2013:

OMG..i 'LURVE' this, Nell! I lurve horses, and i lurve the stories and the pictures in this hub!

Awesome job of humor and getting a message across!

Viva la Horses! Giddyup!

up and forwarding on..

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 17, 2013:

Thanks again Genna, its still going on in the news, it makes me sick just to think about it, glad you liked this though! lol!

Genna East from Massachusetts, USA on February 17, 2013:

Nell, this problem in the UK has been all over the news for the past few days. Whenever I see any coverage of this problem, I immediately think of your timely hub. You go girl! :-)

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 16, 2013:

Haha! that would put me off too! Thanks for the laugh Alastar! Have a great weekend, nell

Hi Larry, Awwwwwww! (groan and double groan)! I was at the seaside a couple of years ago, eating away at my hotdog, huge one it was too, I turned away and suddenly felt a heavy thing on my hand, looking up the darn seagull had nicked it! arghhh! lol!

Larry Fields from Northern California on February 16, 2013:

Hi Alastar. You wrote:

"...I'm sure the chickens in England are fine...."

That's probably true when you buy the whole chook carcass in one package. But according to the latest urban legend, which I'm starting right now, someone has been 'horsing around' with ground chicken. It's being adulterated with ground seagull meat. I hope that everyone who notices a fishy taste in their chicken burgers cries fowl.

Alastar Packer from North Carolina on February 15, 2013:

Nell I'm sure the chickens in England are fine but after having to follow cages full of chickins' on a truck going to you know where, for a long time going to work in the mornings, well, I definitely don't partake of the feathered fellows any more lol.

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 15, 2013:

Just goes to show its not a new thing Alastar. To be honest I have been eating chicken since this has happened! lol! unless you can get a horse the shape of a chicken I think it will be okay! thanks as always, nell

Alastar Packer from North Carolina on February 15, 2013:

Nell, back when I was a kid all the other neighborhood kids fave place for fast food was a joint called Auto-Burger, it had a big picture on top of the place of a happy family munching burgers in an open-topped car with the wheels spinning. Anyway, one day a bunch of us wanted to go to Auto-Burger- yep you got it, the joint had been closed down for substituting horse meat for the real deal. Maybe that's why I'm practicably a vegan these days lol. Loved these pics with your humorous and witty accompanying text Nell- you da bomb!

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 14, 2013:

lol! thanks midget! now stop horseing around! haha

Michelle Liew from Singapore on February 14, 2013:

Right on the humor button & set me laughing, Nell! Had great fun with this & this horse is being shared!

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 13, 2013:

Thanks Vicki, yes we had a tv program showing how animals were slaughtered, in fact they showed it in an audience setting and me being gruesome had to watch, I just wish I hadn't it has stuck with me since, horrible, thanks for coming back, nell

Vickiw on February 13, 2013:

Dreadful situation, I don't blame you, I would feel exactly the same. I actually observed a pet food processing place ( can't call it a factory), and it was so awful, I don't know how those workers can go home and sleep at night.

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 13, 2013:

Hi Vicki, yes I totally agree, its been all over the tv, the health risks and other things too, its not worth eating meat again for while, I am on the beans and toast for a while! lol!

Vickiw on February 13, 2013:

Hi Nell, the pictures are wonderful, and with your blurb they are even better. Great idea for a Hub. Glad you didn't go into this too deeply, because it is pretty awful to think of horsemeat on your plate when you didn't request it. Most horsemeat is (was) used for pet food - yes, even for those fancy looking ads on TV. There are thus no regulations for hygienic production of this meat. That should give more cause for concern than anything.

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 12, 2013:

Thanks so much Vellur, glad you enjoyed it, nell

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 12, 2013:

Hi Glimmer, the story is awful, now its donkeys too by the sound of it! we could have been eating this for years! uck! thanks for reading, nell

Nithya Venkat from Dubai on February 12, 2013:

Funny and an enjoyable hub! Your hubs are refreshing and great to read. Awesome!! Voted up.

Claudia Mitchell on February 12, 2013:

This is so funny and the photos are great. Now I am off to read more info on the horse meat story. Have not heard about that yet.

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 12, 2013:

Hi Genna, thanks, yes I agree with you horse meat is just not right, in fact it probably has been going on for years, makes me shudder to think!

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 12, 2013:

Thanks Jmillis, glad you liked it, nell

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 12, 2013:

Jmillis2006 from North Carolina on February 11, 2013:

This hub was to funny.

Genna East from Massachusetts, USA on February 11, 2013:

Oh, Nell, I loved these photos, and your wonderful captions. Horsemeat doesn’t belong at the dinner table. Ever. It is sacrilege to these marvelous animals. I am so pleased you stood up for our equine friends. There is wisdom in humor, and you have both in abundance, Nell. Voted up and much more. :-)

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 11, 2013:

Thanks Levertis, yes my dad did too, I think the problem is not the horse meat itself but the lying about it being beef, we could have been eating it for years! yuck! lol! thanks so much for reading, nell

Levertis Steele from Southern Clime on February 11, 2013:

I imagine that most of us have unintentionally eaten strange foods. Processed meat is "mystery meat." My uncle told me that he ate horse meat that the army provided during WWII. He said it tasted like beef.

When I see the many strange "foods" eaten in many places, horse meat may be a preference, maybe.

How interesting!

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 11, 2013:

Hi Ruchira, thanks for reading, and the quote is completely apt! lol! and thanks for the share, nell

Ruchira from United States on February 11, 2013:

Totally hilarious hub with great pix, Nell.

I read about horse meat in the news and it sure is horrifying news. I sure do hope man spares the horses and entertains thyself from their many expressions :)

Funny hub and sharing it across

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 11, 2013:

Hi travmaj, evidently its all over europe and some in America too, it must have gone on for years, disgusting, it must have been great to own your own horses, how lovely. Thanks for reading, nell

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 11, 2013:

Hi Alicia, thanks for reading, yes the burgers and other foodstuffs are getting ridiculous now, that's why I love these photos such an expression on the horses faces, so sad that this has happened, thanks, nell

Hi kitty, I totally agree with you, it sickens me, and I am turning vegetarian I think, I don't trust them now, that's why I tried to show the real side of horses, well, sort of! lol!

Lillian K. Staats from Wasilla, Alaska on February 11, 2013:

Oh, Nell, I had a horse, (Chaco), who would play tag with me, race without saddle or bridle, change leads and gates either by gentle pressure, or voice command, didn't have fences but never ran away, and all the dressage moves, travers to left and right, passage, we learned all this together- he was an incredible friend. i miss him him, and of course, as usual, I'm crying... good one Nell... lily

Mackenzie Sage Wright on February 11, 2013:

Those are so funny! As someone who grew up in New York City, I have not been around horses very much in my life and have never seen them doing anything like that. Thanks for the laugh!

Karen A Szklany from New England on February 11, 2013:

Very fun hub! Loved the pictures and jokes. So did my daughter! :0)

Randi Benlulu from Mesa, AZ on February 11, 2013:

These are wonderful, Nell Rose! Thank you!

Kitty Fields from Summerland on February 11, 2013:

How awful...I've heard of the horse meat thing too and it disgusts me...I am a horse lover through and through. You're right, we have enough poor animals that we are exploiting and devouring without having to add this beautiful creature to the list. Horses have been our friends for a long time...why do we have to ruin that friendship? Anywho, I'm off my soap box now...wonderful hub and the pictures are delightful. Blessings!

vibesites from United States on February 11, 2013:

These are really hilarious! Up and funny. :)

Dianna Mendez on February 10, 2013:

So funny, Nell. You really know how to make simple things so interesting.

Beth37 on February 10, 2013:

Those are crazy, I have to say I like the one with the girl laughing and the one where the horse hugs a girl... sweet. :)

Linda Crampton from British Columbia, Canada on February 10, 2013:

The photos and the descriptions are very funny, Nell! This hub is great fun. The thought of horse meat being used in burgers is very sad, though.

travmaj from australia on February 10, 2013:

Nell Rose - always good to see a positive take on horses, sensitive and beautiful animals. Have owned several over the years - all gone now but left unforgettable memories. It's tragic that horse meat has found its way on the menu in England - although I try not to think of lamb chops and veal! I have two pet cows - nice and safe and spoiled.

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 10, 2013:

Hi ruby, lol! Neigh? or Yeah? the pictures are great aren't they? thanks so much as always, nell

Hi avian, I have a neigh'bor too! haha! thanks for reading, nell

Deb Hirt from Stillwater, OK on February 10, 2013:

These were all wonderful, especially the horse and the woman laughing. I love it. I have my own "neigh"bor, you know...

Ruby Jean Richert from Southern Illinois on February 10, 2013:

What a hoot! loved every picture and your comments made me LOL..........Neigh..

Hi May, lol! that sounds like one lovely crazy horse! Haha! brilliant! thanks so much for reading, nell

May Galnou from Melbourne, Australia on February 10, 2013:

Gorgeous hub. Loved the photos. Horses can be cheeky things. We used to have a pony who used to open the back door with his mouth and step into the laundry. He would also undo the belt buckle on your pants. Voted up.

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 10, 2013:

Hi Paula, yes in loads of different countries now! I couldn't believe it! I am getting a little horse yelling at them! (sorry)! lol! seriously though it's a nasty thought. Yes aren't they lovely? I love the last picture with the girl and the horse laughing, wonderful! thanks as always, nell

Suzie from Carson City on February 10, 2013:

Oh, NO, No...please tell me that they are not using horses to feed the masses. I couldn't bear to know this.

Your horses, Nell are quite the talented and hilarious bunch! Had a great laugh, girlfriend....thanks so much. The Hula Hoop is GREAT!

Horses make wonderful friends to hang out with....Thanks, Nell...UP+++

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 10, 2013:

Nell Rose (author) from England on February 10, 2013:

Hi mary, thanks for reading, they are lovely creatures, I used to do horse riding years ago, not done it for years now, I really want to go back to it, thanks as always, nell
