I guess I could start out by just saying that I have always been a writer, or the writing type. However, the words did and do not come to me so easily as it does so many others. I use to be very big into poetry and story writing, but recently I have discovered that writing about real life, real people and real situations has become a popular favorite and I am good at writing about it. I enjoy writing about this type of topic bacuase I feel people can relate to it, they can feel it themselves and or invision themselves in the story. Although it hasn't always been this way. Let me start from the beginning.
I'd like to think that the rough life I had as a child was the start of my inspiration. I could escape reality and create my own story, my own fairytail, my own little world. And so I did. I began by writing dark horror style poetry, but then I realized it just saddened me inside as I was really writing about "real life", "true events." I wanted an escape from my reality, not to live it over and over and over again. So I started writing fictional short stories, until I realized they were becoming more nonfictional stories with tid bits of my childhood life thrown in there. So, obviously poetry, and short stories were giving me trouble because I couldn't seem to clear my mind and write about something great, something that could inspire others and myself for that matter.
I gave writing a break for a while until my life started to turn for the better.I grew up, got married and had 3 children. Now thats an inspiration! I started college and realized I still was able to write with no issues, the words just flowed onto the computer screen without hesitation. I felt better about life and about what life had to offer. Thus began my new wiritng journey. I realized exactly what it was that I wanted to write about. Life, love, family, everyday struggles, careers, and even adventures. So I began some adventures of my own.
I traveled the United States by car with my entire family. We didn't have much money, but we made it happen. We didn't have a very nice reliable car, but we made it work. We had eachother and thats all that mattered to us. During this journey we discovered ourselves and what was actually important to us, compared to what we thought was important. Once our trip was over I had decided that is exactly what I wanted life to be about. Exciting new things, the feeling of not knowing tomorrow and what will come, realizing that materialistic things are not as important.
The point is, through life there will be many ups and downs, twists and turns, happiness and sadsness. I go through all of these rollercoaster type turns almost daily. Why not share it with the world? Maybe someone, somewhere out there can get inspired? Relate? Or even find themselves within my writings. Heres to a new beginning, which we have everyday, make it count!
