I have 10 years of teaching experience in elementary school and as a middle school English teacher. In August of 2007 my wonderful mother-in-law, who had been graciously providing daycare for our little ones, informed us that she was no longer able to do so. It was at this time my wife and I made the decision for me to stay home with our two little ones and live on her income to avoid placing our babies in daycare. Thank the good Lord she is an accountant and makes good money. It has been quite an adjustment, but we have managed well.
I have been married to my beautiful wife for a little more than seven years. We have shared many wonderful experiences in this short amount of time; the birth of our three children – Abby (age 6) and Joseph (age 4) and Hannah (age 4 months) being the most amazing. They are the reason I am a stay at home dad. I am also privileged to be the stepfather to Bryce, a teenager who has a finely developed case of selective hearing. He is a freshman in high school this year and a very good kid. I have been a part of his life since he was 7 years old and I feel very fortunate to be his "other dad."
When I assumed the ‘domestic dad’ role I decided to dive in head first. I have become fairly adept at cleaning up the numerous messes our lovely children and our four dogs make on a daily basis, as well as all the other things a dad does: mowing the lawn, taking out the trash, maintaining the cars, and so on. Cooking, however, has been a passion since I took home economics in the eighth grade. My parents suffered through many omelets that year. Staying home has given me the opportunity to explore many new recipes and hone my cooking and grilling skills.
My other rather diverse interests include camping, ATV’s, cars, gardening, music, writing, teaching, reading, cooking, tennis, politics, and hockey (GO WINGS!). My wife and I have also developed a passion for English Cream Golden Retrievers and we breed them in our home. Check out our website at www.babyfacegoldens.com if you have a minute. They are beautiful animals and we are quite proud of our babies.
