Animal Reiki - Healing Pets Naturally

By awakeningwellness

A Gift Of Healing

One of the greatest gifts we can give to our pets is the

Gift of Healing.

Reiki energy provides that healing in the most loving and gentle manner.

Most animals are very receptive to Reiki and respond quickly to the treatments. Reiki can accelerate the healing process, ease pain, and improve the quality of life, without causing stress or discomfort.

Whether you have a dog, cat, rabbit, horse or ferret, they will all benefit from this natural healing energy!

What is Reiki?

The word Reiki means "spiritually guided life force energy". It is a powerful yet gentle healing energy that works to alleviate the cause of disease and not just treat the symptoms.

It is an infusion of life force that is needed to restore balance and harmony when your pets' energy is low. It is a wonderful way to reduce stress and pain and promote healing of the body.

Reiki can be used to support and enhance both traditional and alternative medicine, often reducing the side effects and healing time of treatments.

A Reiki Treatment

You pet will love it!

Most pets welcome Reiki treatments and seem to intuitively understand the ability of Reiki to help them heal. Reiki is gentle and can be done hands on or from a distance. With an in person session, a series of hand placements are used directly on or right above the animal. As the energy flows into your pet they will generally enter into a deep state of relaxation almost immediately. You might notice your pet stretch, yawn, or even fall asleep. They will also let you know when they have had enough by fidgeting or moving away

A Distance Treatment is just as effective as an in person treatment but with many more benefits. Any animal can be treated in the comfort of his or her own home regardless of distance or circumstance. Distance sessions are often the best solution for pets that are old, aggressive or fearful of strangers, and can even be sent to the kennel to comfort your pet while you are away. In an emergency situation Reiki can be sent to your pet at the vets' office for support during surgery or treatments, and can help a dying pet to be relaxed and peaceful.

At Awakening Wellness Rhonda Sandmoen offers Distance Healing Sessions for your pet whenever they might need it. The length of time a session lasts will vary depending on the need of the animal. Some animals are Reiki "sponges" absorbing large amounts at once; others prefer to take Reiki in frequent small doses. I offer 6o-minute sessions, 30-minute sessions, and a set of three 15-minute follow-up sessions.

Some Dogs Reiki Helped

Read their stories...

My dog Durango had extensive abdominal surgery to remove the string that was wound around his intestines. I was told to keep him quiet and still for a whole month after the surgery. I sent Reiki to him during the surgery and did Reiki in person everyday for a week. At the end of that week his stitches were removed, the vet was amazed that you could hardly see the scar and hair was already growing back over it. He pronounced him healthy enough to return to normal activity. Later that day he was running and jumping for Frisbees! We all know how difficult it is to keep a dog inactive especially when there are other dogs in the home to play with. Reiki eased his pain and cut his recovery time down from the projected month to just 1 week!

Aurora my high energy girl loves to jump high in the air to catch Frisbees. One day she landed badly on her shoulder and was limping around looking miserable. The vet said that the x-rays showed damage that could only be fixed with surgery. She was x-rayed again after 3 days of Reiki treatments and there was no sign of any damage. Reiki saved Aurora from the pain and trauma of surgery and saved me over $1,000!

Ruby a miniature pincher took a tumble off a table and severely injured her back. The damage was so extensive that the vet recommended putting her down. Reiki was used as a last hope but wasn't really expected to make enough of a difference. Fortunately Ruby wasn't ready to let go of life yet and was so improved by the following day that there was no more talk of "putting her down."

Aspen suffered from both arthritis and hip displasia. She took prescription medicine but It only gave her minimal relief and upset her stomach terribly. We started her on Reiki treatments. After a session she would perk up and play with the other dogs without any signs of the stiffness that constantly plagued her. It was wonderful to find something that made her feel better without upsetting her stomach!

Wizard a stray that was both old and very ill, wandered into the yard of a Reiki Master. He luckily picked just the right home, one where he received good nutrition, healing herbs, and daily Reiki sessions. The poor guy had numerous ailments including cancer and mange and the vet thought that his condition was far too serious for him to have any quality of life. The healing regimen however worked miracles for Wizard. His digestive problems cleared up, his coat grew thick and glossy, his tumors faded away, and he lived 3 more happy quality years.

Q, a 9 year old westiepoo was diagnosed with bladder cancer. His owner opted to treat him with Reiki instead of chemo. He received several Reiki treatments a week and 7 months later was in remission. His tests the following year showed no sign of cancer whatsoever and he lived to the ripe old age of 14.

Ariel an Australian Shepherd mix developed a cancerous tumor on her back leg. Her owner was unable to afford chemo treatments and very reluctant to have her dog's leg amputated. These were the two options given to her by her vet. Instead she decided to have regular Reiki treatments for Ariel. I also suggested that she purchase a Tuning Fork called the Genesis Fork and use it everyday. Cancerous cells cannot tolerate the frequency of the Genesis Fork. Ariel loved her Reiki sessions but unfortunately never got used to the tuning fork. However the combination did the trick because in a little over a month the tumor was no longer visible and now over a year later she is still cancer free!

I just got my Reiki I and II and I'm so anxious to learn how to do it with my animals.

julieannbrady on February 11, 2012:

I have 3 stray cats that come to my back door for a little love and attention ... and food. Over a week ago, the black male cat was limping as he held up his front right paw. I didn't "lay hands" on him, but he was in my thoughts the next few days. Don't think I had anything to do with his healing, but I'm glad that he is no longer limping to my back door.

When our boy Peanut became terminally ill due to a very large splenic tumour I was so glad that I could provide Reiki to help ease him in his transition from life.

All of the animals I have been around love energy. Our dog now will lie between my husband and I and we can feel her sucking the energy into herself.

Blessed by your friendly neighbourhood Reiki Squidoo Angel.

We do reiki on our pets. We recently got a rescue cat we named Lucky Charm. I will do reiki on him. We just got him today. I did a lens on him called Lucky- our rescue cat if you want to check it out.

We also initiated our dogs into reiki. My pomeranian was already a healer.

Here is Lucky-Our Rescue Cat

This is another interesting lens added to the Gone to The Dogs Group. Although I was a skeptic, I have seen this type of healing done on dogs and horses and the results are often very good - so good I decided to have my own bad back treated this way!
